Description
Fly Me To The Moon
July 20th, 1969, one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind, the first words spoken on another planet. History had been made in less than a decade after being announced. The American effort to send astronauts to the moon had its origins in an appeal President Kennedy made to a special joint session of Congress on May 25, 1961: "I believe this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to Earth."
This was an historic moment that would be spoken of to this day. The following decade was no less exciting and by the end of the 1970s, the computers used to send man to space would be miniaturised and would become even more powerful. The technology would be found in homes around the world, mostly in early games consoles where players could recreate the moon landings in front of the household TV. I often wonder if this miniaturisation made us step back rather than forward, from the power of the Saturn 5 to the power of a game console, it hardly seems like a step beyond.
This unique work will be the focal point of any “space”!
Thanks for looking!
