Description
Join me for lunch at the Diamond Fish and Chip shop! The eighties, a decade of decadence and fried food, fizzy soda and video games, the scent of salt and vinegar, the sound of super hot fryers, and battered flaky white fish served with potato chips with a side of batter bits, the scraps from the batter which were given away for free!
It was a time when you could buy the family a meal for less than a portion of potato chips today, and still have enough change for a can of shandy, the closest a nine year old could get to drinking beer without getting drunk. In the eighties we were drunk on fun, high scores, and potato fritters and a battered sausage!
Today, the Great British Fish and Chip shop remains a staple on the dying high street, it’s a Friday night treat for a fish and chip supper, and nothing reflects British culture quite like it!
I hope this brings as many memories of the high street back to you as it did for me while I was creating it!
Thanks for looking!
